Alzheimer Society of British Columbia Website
We've been developing web projects for the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia since 2001. In 2009, we redesigned their main website. The project included reorganizing the information architecture of the site, creating a brand new design system, implementing Kentico (content management system), and developing two specialized web tools for their events calendar and their news pages.

The Alzheimer Society of British Columbia website houses several hundred pages of content and provides critical resources to people suffering from the disease, as well as resources for the people who care for Alzheimer suffers. Also, as a non-profit organization, the society has many stakeholders it communicates with regularly.
Our information architects reorganized the site to make it easier to find information. We added regional pages where residents across B.C. can find resources and events in their communities. We also helped the society restructure the information it delivers for its many education, research, and fundraising initiatives. We also built an entirely new graphic design system for the site. The design gives the society a modern yet human-centred brand for its online communications. The end result is that users now have easier access to, as well as search tools for, hundreds of pages of critical information about living with and caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's disease.
In addition to improving their website user experience, staff at the society wanted to make it both easier and cheaper to keep their website up-to-date. We helped them select Kentico, a cost-effective content management system that provides most of the functionality the society needs to update content on regular pages. For the society's news and events information, staff wanted some customized functionality so we built them two modules specifically for posting news items and event information.
The new website is a win-win for both staff at the Alzheimer Society of B.C. and all their website users. We continue to work with the society to keep their website running smoothly and recently completed an upgrade from Kentico version 5 to version 6.
