Number 41 Media’s methodology for developing websites and software applications is based on the Adaptive Project Framework (APF). APF takes the best of long-established software development practices and combines them with the short-term timeframes and lower costs clients have come to expect from web development.
Following this initial client engagement, Number 41 Media institutes a project clarification process designed to clearly define our client’s business requirements and strategic objectives and to tailor a solution that addresses these requirements. This first step is crucial for identifying all opportunities and potential solutions, as well as eliminating any false assumptions. Once a solution has been proposed, Number 41 Media works closely with project stakeholders to develop project objectives and success criteria that meet the client’s business requirements and support their strategic objectives.
These client-focused objectives and success criteria will guide the development process from this point onward.
Throughout project clarification, planning, production, launch, and maintenance, Number 41 Media strives to engage clients in the development of their project. This is apparent in our approach to assigning project leads. Internally, each project is assigned an account manager whose responsibility is to represent client interests to the project manager and the Number 41 Media development team. We also encourage clients to establish their own primary project contact/manager or project management office to work closely with the accounts and project managers during development. The development process itself employs numerous techniques to ensure development is driven by client needs and expectations. Where required we conduct extensive stakeholder meetings, interviews, surveys, reviews, and feedback sessions.
Also, each client has access to a private online project development site, where project prototypes and documentation are made available for review and feedback as development proceeds.
Number 41 Media’s use of adaptive project framework incorporates the research and planning best practices of traditional development cycles with the short development timelines of extreme development cycles. Our project clarification phase helps us propose a focused, results-oriented solution. Clarification concentrates on providing the production team with all the necessary, but also only the necessary, specifications required to begin building a project. Short turnaround times for clarification and specification phases allow projects to move quickly into prototype production.
Number 41 Media’s development process is a flexible structure that offers numerous mechanisms for incorporating change during development. Formal and informal reviews of work in progress are designed to capture any essential revisions of the project specifications. Small changes can be quickly incorporated by the development team. To allow for more substantial changes to the project scope, plan, or deliverables, we maintain a documented change control process that gives clients the ability to affect real and consistent change during development.
We focus on developing solutions that support current business requirements and strategic objectives. We do not gamble client resources on a future we cannot see; however, we can guarantee the future will bring change, so our custom development projects are always scalable and adaptable.
Adaptive Project Framework is an iterative approach to projects whose goal is clearly specified but whose solution is not.
Providing clients with continual feedback opportunities and project re-evaluation at many of the key project milestones, Number 41 Media has used this methodology to deliver hundreds of successful websites and software projects.
