Raising the Bar For Patient Safety

dffd

Victoria - June 23, 2006 - The BC Patient Safety Task Force public website [www.bcpatientsafety.ca] was launched today. As part of the task force’s goal to promote safety culture standards, the website provides health and patient safety tips to all BC residents regardless of where they live in the province. The site is also a public invitation to learn about the active role patients can play to ensure they get the best and safest care possible in BC’s health care system.

Our next step is to create an extranet environment for the task force members to collaborate in the coordination and promotion of their province-wide efforts.

About the BC Patient Safety Task Force

The British Columbia Patient Safety Task Force (PSTF) was established in May 2004 by the BC Ministry of Health, with a mandate to work with the province’s regional health authorities to improve the safety of patients treated by BC’s health care system. With representation from BC’s six health authorities, the PSTF is leading a coordinated approach to develop and implement standard policies and processes to support health care staff throughout the province in improving patient safety.
