The Alzheimer Society of B.C. Web site demonstrates the innovative technology powering service delivery in today’s non-profit sector. The key service feature of the site is the B.C. Photo Registry. This online registry houses a database that allows people with Alzheimer’s or their caregivers to establish a “wanderer’s” profile. In the event a person with Alzheimer’s wanders away from care or becomes lost, police across B.C. can immediately access the database for profile information, contact information, and recent photographs. The Alzheimer Society of B.C. (established in 1981) is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization comprised of three levels - local, provincial, and national.
